Part I, II & III

Performances with Costume, Film and Augmented Reality Sculptures

Part I -Seven ethereal theriomorphic costumes referencing Celtic, Greek and Egyptian mythological beings and the ‘Seven Sisters’ of the Pleiades, weaving a new contemporary and experiential mythology into the now with celestial sounds, story and ritual gestures.

Part II -Short film portrait ‘Peering into the Prism of Lyra’ featuring Aisha Zafirah, who shares her origin in different star systems and how she ‘phones home’ to her star family through the use of crystal skulls.

Part III -A porcelain cast of my hands shaped in the form of an open book, a ‘book mudra’. When scanned with the AR app the crackled lines of the glaze on the hands reveal a secret AR world within the exhibition space, with samples of my ‘celestial scales’ sound performance from Part I and a voiceover of Aisha Zafirah sharing a part of her story from the film (Part II). Further to this my eyes are emitted from the ‘pages’ of the Book Hand Mudra and float through the space, peering back at you. The Book Hand Mudra is flanked by other casts of my hands in contemporary ‘heart mudra’ hand gestures.
