1-05 till 3-05-26 ‘DEATH MASKS For the Composting of the Old Earth’, Solo Exhibition with performances by Ilona West et al, Pruimentijd Art Space, Vliermaal, Belgium

The Death Mask stoneware ceramics are made from casts of tree bark, with fungal protrusions and Sheela na Gig yoni portals. Referencing gargoyles, Sheelas, Waterspuwers and nature spirits these works investigate the energetic boundaries both constructed, imagined or directly experienced, embedded in our architecture and in nature.

The idea is to give life to a Death Mask harking the end of the ‘Old Earth’, decomposing and composting it into the ‘New Earth’, visually and conceptually exploring this multifaceted new age concept, itself a reformulation of old Christian ideas.

‘The decay of old dysfunctional systems cannot come soon enough, and here’s a salute to those envisioning and embodying a more aligned and holistic future. Fermented elixirs will be served (~ complimenting the theme of compostables).’
